Steven Band, LPC: Coping Skills for Dealing with Substance Abuse | All Together #13

Substance abuse encompasses a range of different substances, including alcohol, marijuana, and recreational drugs. People may turn to substance use as a way of coping with uncomfortable emotions, resulting in numerous problems, including financial stress, emotional mess, and damage to family relationships.

In this episode of All Together, host Dina Sargeant is joined by Steven Band, a Licensed Counselor (LPC) for mental and behavioral health by providing individual, family, couples, and group counseling services. He specializes in substance abuse, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and relationships including healthy communication skills with over 17 years of experience with hundreds of people both adolescents and adults.

At the beginning of the episode, Steven highlighted that there might be different perspectives on substance abuse, depending on where we are living and what intention people are using it. He gave an understanding, using his own personal experience with substance abuse, that drugs and alcohol are a tool to handle the pain and suffering caused. Steven also answers some questions from the audience related to this topic.
